Are you doing the right licence?
First you must have completed both your CBT and Motorcycle Theory test. The A1 licence is your only option if you are aged 17 or 18. Passing the 125 test will give you an A1 licence which means that you will be restricted to 125cc machines developing 14.6bhp or less. If you are aged between 19 and 23 then you can do the A2 licence, this will entitle you to ride up to 35kw (47bhp). If you are 24 or over then you can go for the unrestricted category A licence.
Once you have completed your CBT and motorcycle theory test, if you are aged 24 years or over and wish to ride a large unrestricted Motorcycle, then the Direct Access Scheme (DAS) is your route to an unrestricted category A license.
Our courses are designed to build your confidence, awareness, and control, and we use all types of roads from high speed dual-carriage ways, country lanes, to town centre riding, giving you not only enough skills to pass your test, but an insight in to our advanced courses.
We use the Honda CBF 600, CB650F or NC700 Auto, or of course you are welcome to use your own bike as long as it is taxed, insured, has an MOT certificate and you have ‘L’ plates clearly displayed to the front and rear of your motorcycle. Some motorcycles aren’t suitable for your category A test though, so if in doubt give us a call!
If you wish to gain a category A (automatic) license, then we also have a Honda NC 700 S with DCT which you can do your training and test on.
